All for Good

Romans 8:28 ESV And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Although this is a familiar verse, I don’t think we as Christians internalize it often. So many things make life difficult and we stumble on those struggles. We fall from fear, we trip on trials, and we cry why, and how long, and we hurt. The hurt is a hard part of the struggle; the pain makes the problem very real. The words of the verse are just words—they don’t help, they don’t heal . . . but actually, they do.

"Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose - not the one you began with perhaps, but one you'll be glad to remember." -Anne Sullivan

Shift Your Focus

Shift your focus. Take your eyes off the struggle, the fear, the trial, and the pain, and put them on the Lord who makes all things work together for good. It’s hard, yes, but healthy. Will God help? Yes. How? That varies.

It's God's Promise

God has promised that He will make all things work together for good. It might take time to see that work. The struggle may become something life-changing. My husband almost died but I am writing and reaching people because of it. A financial struggle can make better stewards. A trial can result in a way to teach someone. Pain can provide a way to share the gospel. ALL of it gives us growth and leads to learning. Growth and learning increase faith which yields peace and joy. If the final results of your struggles are growth, faith, peace, and joy, is that good?

Try to shift your perspective. All things . . . yes, ALL things, work together for good for those who love God.
